PELL grants - The maximum Pell
Grant award for the 2008-09 award year (July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009)
is $4,731. The
maximum can change each award year and depends on program funding. The
amount you get, though, will depend not only on
your financial need, but also on your costs to attend school, your
status as a full-time or part-time student, and your plans to
attend school for a full academic year or less.
FSEOG grants - The FSEOG Program
provides need-based grants to low-income undergraduate students to
promote access
to postsecondary education. Students can receive these grants at any
one of approximately 4,000 participating postsecondary
institutions.
Institutional financial aid administrators at participating
institutions have substantial flexibility in determining the
amount of FSEOG awards to provide students who are enrolled or accepted
for enrollment. Priority is given to those students
with "exceptional need" (those with the lowest expected family
contributions, [EFCs], at the institution) and those who are also
Federal Pell Grant (see # 84.063, also under topical heading "Federal
Student Aid") recipients.
FAFSA Forecaster
- FAFSA4caster will help you get an early start on the financial aid
process by providing you with an early
estimate
of your eligibility for federal student aid. In addition, FAFSA4caster
will increase your knowledge of the financial aid
process and provide information about other sources of aid.
